Anne Jones is a 48-year-old female who was employed on an assembly line from November 2008 to February 2009.  Prior to that, she worked in dietary capacity at a nursing home from September 2006 to January 2007.  Anne was diagnosed with asthma, gastric reflux, back pain, arthritis, and obesity.  Ms. Jones also suffers from cardiac episodes.   In addition to her physical disabilities, she suffers from a major depressive disorder, manic episodes, panic attacks, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Ms. Jones was hospitalized for two days in July 2010 for a cardiac condition, T-wave abnormalities, and possible coronary artery disease.  Her asthma had required hospitalization in the past.  Ms. Jones retained the Law Offices of Neil H. Good to represent her to obtain Social Security disability benefits.  Her initial claim was denied, as well as her request for reconsideration.  Attorney Good filed for a Social Security Hearing on her behalf.

Attorney Good explained to the Administrative Law Judge that Ms. Jones suffered from asthma.  This condition caused her to have shortness of breath, chest pains, coughing, and wheezing.  She uses an inhaler 2 to 3 times per day.  Attorney Good further explained that Ms. Jones’ asthma was so severe that it required hospitalization.  She was also diagnosed with moderately severe obstruction of her lungs.  Attorney Good opined that Ms. Jones suffers from back pain and arthritis.  She also suffers from obesity, with a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 38.

Attorney Good explained to the Administrative Law Judge that in addition to Ms. Jones’s physical disabilities, she suffered from depressive syndrome.  This caused her to have anhedonia (inability to experience pleasure from activities usually found enjoyable), appetite disturbances, sleep disturbance, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, difficulty concentrating or thinking, and other such impairments.  Attorney Good opined to the Administrative Law Judge that Ms. Jones suffers from manic syndrome, which is characterized by hyperactivity, pressure of speech, decreased need for sleep.

Additionally, Attorney Good explained that Ms. Jones suffered from panic attacks.  She has an onset of intense apprehension, fear, terror, and sense of impending doom occurring on the average of at least once a week.  The physical disabilities and mental impairments not only made work unrealistic for Ms. Jones; they made basic life functions such as such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping, as well as recreational activities impracticable.

The Social Security Administration awarded Anne Jones Social Security benefits.  They ruled that Ms. Jackson was not able to perform her past relevant work.   A combination of her physical and mental disabilities impeded her ability to perform any and all work.
