The Social Security Administration earlier this week announced a 1.5 percent benefits increase for 2014.
The automatic increases, also known as cost-of-living adjustments, or COLAs, have been in effect since 1975.
Here’s a listing of the increases from 1975 through 2013. The adjustments range from 0 (2010 and 2011) to a whopping 14.3 percent for 1980.
